Welcome back, traders! It’s time again to dive deep into this week’s Commitment of Traders (COT) data and uncover the market positioning driving major currency trends.

CAD – Canadian Dollar

  • Speculators: Net short -63,452 (longs decreased by 3,118; shorts increased by 7,167)
  • Commercials: Net long 60,970 (longs significantly decreased by 89,343; shorts decreased by 77,918)
  • % Long Ratio: 20.56%

Speculators remain bearish, but there’s considerable potential for bullish momentum as positioning is far from overcrowded. CAD strength continues to be attractive.

CHF – Swiss Franc

  • Speculators: Net short -23,853 (longs decreased by 1,084; shorts increased by 1,825)
  • Commercials: Net long 21,733 (longs increased by 2,620; shorts increased by 1,655)
  • % Long Ratio: 18.66%

CHF maintains bullish potential, with speculators showing ample room for adding long positions. Keep CHF on your radar as sentiment shifts could fuel further gains.

GBP – British Pound

  • Speculators: Net long 31,399 (longs increased by 7,302; shorts increased by 10,298)
  • Commercials: Net short -43,971 (longs decreased by 393; shorts decreased by 457)
  • % Long Ratio: 58.58%

The GBP remains neutral based on current data. Without a clear bias, I won’t base trade decisions or confirmations on GBP’s COT data alone this week.

JPY – Japanese Yen

  • Speculators: Net long 127,338 (longs decreased by 7,779; shorts decreased by 2,840)
  • Commercials: Net short -150,857 (longs decreased by 2,881; shorts decreased by 3,344)
  • % Long Ratio: 79.76%

JPY continues to appear significantly overbought. The crowded long positioning indicates a heightened risk for bearish momentum. Be cautious initiating new long JPY positions.

EUR – Euro

  • Speculators: Net long 107,537 (longs increased by 1,188; shorts increased by 4,786)
  • Commercials: Net short -160,664 (longs increased by 13,550; shorts increased by 9,913)
  • % Long Ratio: 65.70%

EUR positioning remains balanced, offering no clear trade signals. I’ll hold off on EUR trade decisions based solely on this week’s data.

NZD – New Zealand Dollar

  • Speculators: Net long 4,150 (longs decreased by 304; shorts decreased by 1,684)
  • Commercials: Net short 5,764 (longs decreased by 2,478; shorts decreased by 591)
  • % Long Ratio: 56.39%

NZD is still favorably positioned, with bullish momentum showing signs of consolidation. Watch closely, as further bullish positioning is still possible.

AUD – Australian Dollar

  • Speculators: Net short -70,562 (longs increased by 2,055; shorts increased by 5,227)
  • Commercials: Net long 70,475 (longs increased by 3,505; shorts decreased by 1,590)
  • % Long Ratio: 21.08%

AUD remains attractive with substantial bullish potential. There’s significant room for speculators to build additional long positions, supporting further AUD strength.

Final Thoughts

This week’s COT data highlights continued bullish opportunities in CAD, CHF, and AUD, while JPY presents potential bearish reversal risks. GBP and EUR, NZD are neutral, offering no clear immediate trading signals.
