Welcome back, traders! Let’s jump right into this week’s Commitment of Traders (COT) analysis to uncover the market sentiment behind major currencies and spot potential trading opportunities.
CAD – Canadian Dollar

- Speculators: Net short -53,167 (long positions decreased by 2,887; short positions decreased by 16,053)
- Commercials: Net long 50,430 (long positions significantly decreased by 89,343; short positions decreased by 77,918)
- % Long Ratio: 24.37%
Speculators notably reduced their short positions, indicating growing bullish sentiment. There’s substantial room for increased CAD long positions, suggesting continued CAD strength.
CHF – Swiss Franc

- Speculators: Net short -20,944 (long positions increased by 327; short positions increased by 1,215)
- Commercials: Net long 20,768 (long positions increased by 1,909; short positions increased by 307)
- % Long Ratio: 21.93%
The CHF continues to present bullish potential, with room available for additional long positioning. Keep an eye on CHF as sentiment shifts could bolster further strength.
GBP – British Pound

- Speculators: Net long 34,395 (long positions decreased by 6,434; short positions increased by 2,028)
- Commercials: Net short -44,035 (long positions decreased by 7,459; short positions decreased by 569)
- % Long Ratio: 60.40%
GBP remains in neutral territory based on current positioning. Without clear directional cues from the data, I’ll refrain from making trade decisions or confirmations solely based on GBP’s COT data this week.
JPY – Japanese Yen

- Speculators: Net long 132,277 (long positions increased by 2,802; short positions increased by 1,402)
- Commercials: Net short -147,710 (long positions decreased by 2,881; short positions decreased by 3,344)
- % Long Ratio: 76.46%
JPY remains significantly overbought. Given the crowded long positions, traders should exercise caution when considering new long entries. There’s a heightened risk for bearish momentum ahead.
EUR – Euro

- Speculators: Net long 111,135 (long positions increased by 2,980; short positions decreased by 6,602)
- Commercials: Net short -164,301 (long positions increased by 2,634; short positions increased by 5,914)
- % Long Ratio: 66.52%
EUR positioning is balanced, offering no clear actionable signals. I’ll hold off making EUR trading decisions solely based on this week’s COT data.
NZD – New Zealand Dollar

- Speculators: Net long 2,770 (long positions significantly increased by 4,048; short positions increased slightly by 5)
- Commercials: Net short 3,877 (long positions decreased by 7,246; short positions decreased by 3,229)
- % Long Ratio: 54.02% (up significantly from below 20%)
The NZD has turned net long, reflecting traders increasingly loading up on bullish positions. However, keep an eye out; if it becomes overbought, a correction may soon follow.
AUD – Australian Dollar

- Speculators: Net short -72,562 (long positions increased by 2,055; short positions increased by 5,227)
- Commercials: Net long 70,475 (long positions increased by 3,505; short positions decreased by 1,590)
- % Long Ratio: 19.53%
AUD maintains substantial bullish potential with considerable room for further long positions. The currency remains a favorable candidate for traders anticipating additional upside.
Final Thoughts
This week’s COT data highlights bullish opportunities for CAD, CHF, NZD, and AUD due to positioning dynamics. Exercise caution with JPY due to crowded longs and potential bearish reversals. EUR and GBP remain neutral with no immediate actionable signals from the data.
